Marc Jacobs, born in New York City in 1963, is a renowned fashion designer who graduated from Parson’s School of Design with top honors. He launched his own label in 1984 and gained prominence by winning the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent in 1987. After a brief tenure at Perry Ellis, he and his business partner, Robert Duffy, founded Marc Jacobs International in 1993 and joined Louis Vuitton in 1997. Jacobs introduced the Marc by Marc Jacobs line in 2001 and has won a record nine CFDA awards. His company has expanded globally, including store openings in the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and has launched numerous product lines, including fragrances and eyewear.
